A Little Bit About Me

  • I live with my husband, Darren, and our super-terrier, Flora, in the tiny village where my grandparents and great-grandparents lived, just outside Kyle of Lochalsh - the gateway to the Isle of Skye.

When I was 18, I left home for the bright lights of Edinburgh and later London, where I worked in public relations in the City. A year travelling round the world was the cure to my early-mid-life-crisis (everyone has one....right?) and then at the grand old age of 36, I returned home to the Highlands and, somehow, discovered wedding photography as a career. As a romantic dreamer and an outgoing lover of people, though, it seems the perfect job for me.

My travels took me from London to Moscow by bus and train via Mongolia, China, Tibet, Nepal and India, followed by a wee journey from South Africa to Kenya in an overland truck. That’s quite a lot of miles and an awful lot of amazing experiences and you can see some of the photographs from this trip here.

I don't have any children but I do have two nieces, a nephew and a couple of gorgeous god-children, all of whom I love to photograph. And my dog thinks she’s human. She’s so cool.

  • Some totally random facts:

I've seen Mount Everest three times and seeing it for the first time made me cry - it really is unbelievably spectacular.

I have a bit of an obsession with the colour turquoise.

Growing vegetables is something I love to do, as well as cooking and baking. I'd love to take up food photography as a hobby...watch this space!

My favourite tv programme is Strictly Come Dancing (don't judge me) closely followed by The Great British Bake Off and Gardener's World.

Our four chickens come to me when I call them. My dad says they are better trained than the dog.

My current favourite food to cook and eat is Middle Eastern and the cook book I'd save if my house was on fire is, Persiana. Yummy, yummy food!
