My last wedding of April 2014 was another Isle of Skye wedding at one of my favourite venues – Duisdale House Hotel. I’ve photographed quite a lot of weddings here and it’s always such an enjoyable experience because Anne and Ken and their staff ensure the day goes smoothly and I get to photograph in the most beautiful gardens and by the banks of a beautiful loch.
Nicola and Davie contacted me just a couple of months before their big day and I’m so glad they did. From Davie’s first crazy, funny emails which he was sending from offshore, to my first meeting with them a few weeks before the wedding, to the day itself – they are just the most blooming lovely couple and utterly devoted to one another. Davie told me in advance about lots of little surprises he’d organised for Nicola such as the surprise ‘extra’ delivery from Harry Gow’s of her favourite cream puffs and other yummy little delicacies. Then there was the surprise Converse trainers – and not just one pair each but two – completely personalised with their names and wedding details.
It was a glorious sunny day for the wedding and after the ceremony, which was of course held outside, the newlyweds were transported for a wee jaunt in their friend’s little camper van, complete with champagne and crisps!
Here are some of my favourite images from what was an absolute belter of a day. Please feel free to leave some comments for the bride and groom.
Oh, a few details: the flowers were from, of course, Loch Duich Plants!; hair by Lisa at Ardvasaar Hair & Beauty; make up by Lynn at Skye Beauty and the band were one of my favourite local bands – the Cast Ewe Ceilidh Band.
