It was another Bunchrew House Hotel Wedding in June, for the gorgeous Jennifer Murray, who married her partner John on the lawn, in front of their family and friends, many of whom had travelled from Lewis for the occasion.
I’ve photographed quite a few weddings at Bunchrew but this was my first time shooting outside in the sun and it was lovely!
I arrived to find Jenni, a hairdresser in Stornoway, and her six sassy bridesmaids getting ready. My first lovely surprise of the day was the gorgous bridesmaids dresses with fabulous frou frou underskirts in pastel peach and perky pink – just gorgous and yes, I did make the girls swish a lot during the day!
Jenni and john met back in 2006 through a mutual friend at a party and John popped the question while they were watching television one night, although I’m not sure what they were watching! They spent two years planning the wedding and Jenni told me they were so looking forward to bieng with their friends and family and seeing everything come together at last.
The flowers and the room were set up by Angela Stewart Creative and I can honestly say that the flowers at this wedding were possibly some of the most beautiful arrangements I’ve ever seen.
After two years of planning, Jenni and John got their perfect wedding. She said: “Perfect weather, good food and wine/bubbles/Pimms. Fantastic photographer. The hotel were excellent, no hitches or hanging around. Really good band, that got everyone up dancing (including me who hates dancing!).”
I have to add, there is something special about an ‘Island’ wedding – whether it’s in the Hebrides, or on the mainland, the folk just throw themselves into the celebrations with gusto and the craic is always great.
Here are some of my favourites from the day, including a shot of Roddy Jamieson, manager at Bunchrew and a pretty good host! Please feel free to leave a comment for the bride and groom.
