Wedding Photography Armadale Castle | Jan + Gary
Still a bit behind with the blog so bear with me. Today’s offering is the wedding of Jan and Gary from Fife who travelled up to Skye to marry at Armadale Castle earlier this month – just the two of them! An accident with a lorry closed the road for a little while but we arrived at the castle just under an hour late – thankfully one of our local registrars – the lovely Liz – was very understanding, as was Mags, wedding planner extrordinaire at Armadale.
It was a lovely sunny day for the couple’s outdoor ceremony and afterwards we went for a walk around the lovely gardens to take some shots of the happy couple.
Jan and Gary, you were a pleasure to spend time with and thanks again for the lovely gift. I wish you all the best for a long and happy future together and all the best for your celebration party later this year!
Here are a few of my favourites from the day.

I live where I grew up, in the north-west Highlands of Scotland, near the Isle of Skye. I left home at 18 and returned 18 years later and I've worked as a secretary, a marketing assistant, a PR manager, and a local news reporter.
Although I've always loved looking at pictures in magazines, I didn't really get 'into' photography until I was quite old - 36!! Now, five years on, it is my full time occupation and I DO love it, but that is as much from the folk I get to meet and the fun of being part of a wedding day, as it has to do with having a camera in my hand. I just really, really like meeting new people, especially happy people!
Here's another few snippets of info:
At 34 I had an early midlife crisis and took off on a long trip from London to Kenya via Russia, Mongolia, China, Tibet, Nepal, India and several African countries - it was the best year of my life.
I never gave up on the idea of finding 'the one' and a few weeks ago - aged 41! - I walked down the aisle myself.
The second biggest love of my life is Flora - the funniest, cleverest, cutest little doggy ever!
I've climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and done a Marathon - okay, it was the Moonlight Bra Walk Marathon....but 26.2 miles is 26.2 miles!
I love perfume - especially if the bottle is quirky; my latest purchases were Gucci Flora and Balenciaga.
Coming back to my roots is the best thing I've ever done; Edinburgh and London - good times - but now I can have a dog, grow my own veg, breathe clean air and see the sea, every single day.
I love films, magazines and eating - if I can do all three while camped out on the couch or in the bath, I'm happy!
I am quite a soppy romantic, and I really, really, really love my job.
Lovely photos of a lovely couple – glad you went ahead and did it just the way you wanted it! Looking forward to celebrating with you publicly soon.

p.s I’ve seen that tiara somewhere before….
Thank you so much Debs for your lovely comments. Looking forward to celebrating our marriage with all our family and friends. The tiara does look familiar! X
Lynne,
Thank you so so much for making our ‘big day’ so special and all your assistance with the arrangements. Your a very talented lady and so cant wait to trash the dress! X
Jan & Gary – what lovely photos – we were so happy to be able to share your “extra eventful” special day – you were the perfect Bride & Groom! Looking forward to seeing you both when you’re next up!! xo
Gillian and Craig,
Thank you so so much. If you both hadnt given us so much help by trying to organise a boat when the road was closed, dealing with all the calls to take the pressure off of us and organising a replacement wedding car at such short notice when our wedding car broke down on its way to us we would never have managed to get married! You were the perfect hosts and made us feel more like friends than guests. Hope to be back up to Skye soon!!!! xxx
